Due to the discovery of an aging collapsed sewer service line, a sinkhole has developed in the 200 block of Broadway Street on St. Simons Island. Homeowners in this area have been briefed and will have limited access. Broadway Street will be closed to thru-traffic over the next 10 business days beginning 3/19/14 with work expected to end 4/2/14.

As the sewer service laterals are 10 to 12 feet deep, the BGJWSC is excavating the area to prevent future development of sink holes and correct the sewer line issue. The BGJWSC requests that you plan to divert your commute around this section of Broadway that lies between Forest Park Rd and Third Ave.

This is considered an emergency repair due to the severity of the sinkhole. The BGJWSC apologizes in advance for the inconvenience.
