Public Service Announcement: Level 1 Drought Response in Effect

The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission is notifying all customers that the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has declared a Statewide Level 1 Drought Response due to ongoing dry conditions across Georgia.

While there are currently no severe restrictions, this declaration calls for increased awareness and responsible water use by all residential and commercial customers.

What this means for you:
Customers are encouraged to take simple, everyday steps to conserve water and help protect our shared water resources:

  • Regularly check for and repair leaks inside and outside your home or business
  • Turn off the tap while brushing teeth, shaving, or washing dishes
  • Only water lawns and landscaping when necessary
  • Adjust sprinklers to avoid watering driveways, sidewalks, and streets

Outdoor Watering Guidelines:

  • General landscape watering is allowed between 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM daily
  • The following activities are allowed at any time of day:
    • Watering personal food gardens
    • Watering newly planted landscaping (up to 30 days after installation)
    • Using drip irrigation or soaker hoses
    • Hand watering with a hose equipped with an automatic shut-off

This Level 1 response focuses on smart water use, not restrictions. Every small effort makes a difference in preserving our water supply during these dry conditions.

The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission appreciates your cooperation and commitment to being a good steward of our community’s water resources.
