Sanitary Sewer Overflow at 1253 B&W Grade Rd in Brunswick – May 9, 2024
The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission, NPDES Permit GA0025313, in accordance with permit requirements, makes public notice of a sanitary sewer overflow that occurred on Thursday, May 9, 2024, into Yellow Bluff Creek.

Location of Spill: Lift Station 4036 1253 B&W Grade Rd Brunswick, GA 31520
Cause of Spill: A power outage from a storm.
Estimated Volume of Discharge: Approximately 95,253 gallons
State Waters Discharged: Discharged into Yellow Bluff Creek, Brunswick, GA
Corrective Action Taken:
Lift station technicians and vacuum pumping system crews worked in unison to control the flow of the lift station until power could be temporarily restored via generator. Staff placed notification signs along Yellow Bluff Creek and contacted local environmental authorities. Laboratory technicians will continue to test this area to determine if any further environmental abatement is necessary.
Public Notification:
This notification is being provided to Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Glynn County Department of Public Health, local print media, and local radio stations for further dissemination.
