Road Closure Notification – 100 Block of Harrogate Road on St Simons Island – February 8, 2021

Road Closure Notification

In order to perform sewer lateral repairs in the area, the 100 block of Harrogate Road in Sea Palms, between Palm and Windward, will be closed to thru traffic. The road closure will begin at or about 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8 and last until no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Homeowner access will be maintained but all other traffic should be prepared to take another route.

This work is required due to broken 4” vitrified clay pipe (VCP), likely installed more than 40 years ago, that has been identified as having sags in the line as well as tree root intrusion. BGJWSC staff will be installing a lower cleanout while upgrading the service to more reliable 4” PVC pipe. This work will help avoid a potential sanitary sewer spill, clog, or sinkhole in the road.
