Can I turn my water service on?
Turning on your service without approval is a violation of the local City of Brunswick and Glynn County Water and Sewer Ordinances. Tampering with or turning on the meter without authorization will results in fines and penalties according to the City and County Ordinances, and may also result in civil or criminal action.
Damages to the meter and/or connection as a result of turning on or turning off your own water will result in repair charges billed to the customer. Pliers, channel locks and vice grips are not appropriate tools for turning the meter on or off. Our preference is that have a hand valve on your side of the meter box to allow for routine maintenance. In the absence of a hand valve, a tool specifically designed to operate the valve inside the meter box may be purchased at a home improvement store.
