First Quarter Open Customer Relationship Town Hall Meetings

The BGJWSC would like to invite you to participate in the first of our quarterly town hall meetings next week. These meetings are specifically dedicated to:

  • Give you an opportunity to meet our leadership team of commissioners and staff members
  • Hear a message from our Chairman, Don Elliott
  • Get the latest news from our Executive Director, Jimmy Junkin
  • Have an open floor to discuss any concerns, issues or needs
  • Sort out chatter you’ve been hearing in the community
  • And, most importantly, be assured that your voice is being heard

That’s it! We have no formal agenda, no voting will occur, no decisions will be made by the board but the subjects that you discuss will help us determine how our priorities line up with your priorities.

Announcing Quarterly Open Customer Relationship Town Hall Meetings

As part of our ever-increasing efforts to increase transparency and accessibility between our Board of Commissioners, our management, our staff and the public, the BGJWSC is proud to announce that we will be holding a quarterly Open Customer Relationship Town Hall Meeting. At each meeting, you will be given the opportunity to discuss water & sewer utility topics with less structure and formality than we have at our regular commission meetings. Members of staff and the Commission will be present to field any questions that you have. Visual aids will be provided for projects underway, outside consultants and contractor representatives may also be present to address related concerns.

First Quarter
Wednesday, February 22, 2017 – 6 pm at Howard Coffin Park Recreation Center
Thursday, February 23, 2017 – 6 pm at the St. Simons Island Casino, Room 108

Second Quarter
Wednesday, May 24, 2017 – 6 pm at Howard Coffin Park Recreation Center

We will not meet on St. Simons Island in November due to Thanksgiving Holidays

If you’re unavailable to attend one of these meetings, we will be giving you the opportunity to post your question to an “Ask the Director” form which will be made available on our website the week preceding the town hall meeting. The meetings will also be recorded and made available to the public.

We look forward to seeing you at the Open Customer Relationship Town Hall Meetings but always welcome you to attend our scheduled commission meetings at 1703 Gloucester St as well.

Public Information Meeting – Pump Station 2032 Regional Forcemain Improvements Project

The JWSC would like to make you aware of the following public information meeting:

What

The Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water & Sewer Commission has a Public Information Meeting for Tuesday, December 13th. The purpose is to provide information regarding the upcoming Pump Station No. 2032 Regional Forcemain Improvements Project and limited impact to adjacent neighborhoods, public roads and bike paths, all of which are located on St. Simons Island.

The meeting will have a drop in format with displays of the project route for viewing, informational handouts and comment forms. Personnel from JWSC, Glynn County, Four Waters Engineering, and T.B. Landmark, Inc. (contractor for project) will be available to discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.

Townhall Meeting – Proposed Sewer Tap Fee Allocation Policy – September 20, 2016

Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM

On Tuesday, September 20th at 10:00 AM the BGJWSC will be hosting a 2nd Public Hearing and Comment Period to discuss the Proposed Sewer Tap Fee Allocation Policy.  In this meeting the Commission, Executive Director and the Staff will be on hand to help answer questions and to begin to finalize the policy.  A final version will be presented to the BGJWSC Commission at the next meeting on Thursday, September 22nd at 2:00 PM.

A Public Information Meeting will be set for Wednesday, September 7th to provide information and solicit feedback concerning the proposed Pump Station No. 2032 Regional Forcemain Improvements and impacts to adjacent neighborhoods, public roads and bike paths, all of which are located on St. Simons Island.  The meeting will have a drop in format with displays for viewing, informational handouts and comment forms.  Personnel from BGJWSC, Glynn County and Four Waters Engineering will be available to discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.  A formal presentation will not be held at this time, nor will formal comments be taken.  In the future, if an official Public Hearing is held, citizens will have the opportunity to make formal verbal comments.

Townhall Meeting – Proposed Sewer Tap Allocation Policy – August 30, 2016

On Tuesday, August 30th at 12:30 PM the BGJWSC will be hosting a Public Hearing and Comment Period to discuss the Proposed Sewer Tap Allocation Policy.  In this public meeting the Commission, Executive Director and the staff will be on hand to help answer questions and concerns the citizens may have about this issue and how it can address the proposed policy.  Once the public concerns are heard the staff will make the necessary changes in order to submit a final version for approval to the full Commission at the September 1st meeting.

The JWSC Board, City of Brunswick Commissioners, and Development Authority members are invited to attend and participate.

Town Hall Meeting – Rate Revision

The Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water & Sewer Commission would like to invite you to a town hall meeting to discuss pending rate revisions. Two meetings will take place at the following locations and dates:

  • May 31, 2016 – Glynn County Casino, 550 Beachview Dr, St. Simons Island, Room 108 – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • June 1, 2016 – Howard Coffin Park City Recreation Center, 1402 Sonny Miller Way, off Gloucester St in Brunswick – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Members of BGJWSC staff and Commissioners will be present to address any concerns that you may have related to this rate revision. A draft of the changes is available below, along with a short presentation outlining the reason for and result of the changes.

The Brunswick – Glynn County Joint Water & Sewer Commission will be hosting a public meeting on March 3rd 2016 at 1 PM to present and discuss the BGJWSC Systems Master Plan Update. The original master plan was completed in 2009. A Master Plan should be updated every 5 years to account for changing priorities, completed projects, and to update the impact of development and the need for growth and expansion of the water and sewer systems. This presentation will define both rehabilitation capital improvements to provide a proposed plan for needed repair & replacement and expansion capital improvements to address necessary upgrades, extensions, or capacity increases for anticipated development.

This presentation is important to the water and sewer infrastructure and is to formulate a short and long range blueprint on maintaining these complex systems. The proposed master plan will also set up a funding path to manage long range budgets by.

The Commission, staff, and public input are encouraged during this meeting.

SYSTEMS MASTER PLAN FINAL DRAFT REVIEW

The Brunswick – Glynn County Joint Water & Sewer Commission will be hosting a public meeting on November 12th, at 10:00 AM to present and discuss the JWSC Systems Master Plan Update.  The original master plan was completed in 2009 and the 2015 Master Plan Update represents the first overall re-evaluation since that time. A Master Plan should be updated every 5 years.

This presentation will build on the previous August 5, 2015 draft Master Plan Update presentation and will focus on identifying and defining the water and sewer system capital improvements necessary for rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and expansion to serve anticipated growth and development.
